re general VI commands:
I'm sure I'll get loads of flame-mail about this, but I find vi is a real pain
to use and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
With vi, type the wrong thing in the wrong mode and you can easily destroy
your document!
It also reminds me of early, stone-age ATM cash dispensers which only gave you
a single line of green text - emacs (especially xemacs) is more 21st century.
Personally, I prefer GUI editors which allow you to easily select options from
menus but still allow you to use shortcuts once you're more experienced. I
usually edit my source on a PC in Visual C++ and then ftp it over to the raq.
If you don't have access to a PC and must do all your edits on the raq itself,
then Emacs would be a better option for you. Look at the review on page 72 of
Linux Format magazine, July 2000, (a UK publication) or see
www.linuxformat.co.uk or consult www.emacs.org
There is also a more graphical version called XEmacs at www.xemacs.org

David Woods
