[cobalt-developers] Tomcat / SSI - servlets and jsp

Andrew, I actually installed tomcat following the instructions you posted on
that page. Tomcat is working properly, but what I'm trying to do is set it
up so that I can do server side includes. Meaning have a static html page,
with a servlet called within servlet tags or a similiar setup. I have tried
using:
<servlet>
"/path/to/servlet"
</servlet>
<!--#servlet = "/path/to/servlet" -->
<!--#servlet code="/path/to/servlet" -->
<%= servlet code="/path/to/servlet" %>
but none of these have seemed to work. When I used the <!--# statements, I
did have [an error occurred while processing this directive], but that's
all. The rest of the attempts returned nothing.
I am also learning the process of doing a JSP page. As of this writing, the
jakarta-tomcat homepage seems to be down. I have read through most of the
documentation included with tomcat, but I'm still unable to get this
working. I just get Page Not Found returned (the *.jsp page is in a
standard apache html directory).
I am new to the servlet/jsp realm, so bear with me as I work my way through
this process. Thanks for your help.
Dave

I was able to successfully install Tomcat 3.1 on our RaQ 3. I am able to
run servlets using the default setting for Tomcat
(http://www.web_address/servlet/SERVLET_NAME) but I have been unable to use
the servlets within a static webpage - server side include (SSI). I think I
have apache set up correctly to deal with SSI, but I think it's primarily
used for cgi scripts. What do I need to do to use servlets within my web
pages? I downloaded JSSI, but I'm having problems getting it to work as
well. Any help here is appreciated.
