Hi,
I'm the new owner of 2 RaQ3's. I want to connect them to a UPS, and
have them power down when the power goes off. The RaQ3's comes with a
separate serial port for UPS use and UPS control software. The
documentation for the UPS software is virtually non-existent with respect
to specific UPS models supported, and how to configure them. I have an APC
Network Powercell that I want to use with the APC grey (dumb) cable. After
looking through the source, I've come the following conclusions:
1. The software installed on the RaQ3 is based upon the 0.41.2
Smartupstools release, modified for the RaQ3 with work with the Raq's lcd
panel. The software includes support for the APC backupspro, and the
backups. The backups provides support for dumb signalling with the grey cable.
2. It looks as if I can edit the /etc/sysconfig/ups file to change the ups
MODEL from smartups to backups. This would give me support for the dumb
signalling used with the grey cable and PowerCell.
3. Upon a power failure, the Raq will only be power down (by turning off
the UPS) after the battery has been drained and is low. The problem with
this strategy, is that if the power is bouncing up and down, then the
battery will be uncharged on the next outage. I would rather have the Raq's
shutdown and power-off a specified time after the power failure (say 5
minutes). There doesn't seem to be a way to do this.
I'm looking for suggestions for configuring the built-in UPS control
software on the Raq or for other UPS software to use. What is everyone else
using ???
thanks, mike dierker
