Right. An A-record won't work by itself. Neither will a CNAME record.
If you're sharing IP#s, then the site is found by the domain.name in the
header.
So you need an alias in your /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file for
domain2.com inside the virtual block for domain1.com.
