Hi folks,
I have read as a lurker this for many years.
I have not participated for severial years as the items being discussed were
beyond my feble knowledge.
I have had a RaQ 1 since inception, or shortly
thereafter.
It has proven to be most worthy and
stable.
It is still working (thank God).
I host a number of sites on this server, using
around 40 or so IP numbers. Some are qualified domains and some are true
vanity sites under one of the fully qualified domains.
I have two problems which I do or am soon going to
need assistance on.
The First is:
I soon will be changing backbone providers.
(I host my own Qualified NameServer on this machine).
I will be having to change all the IP numbers of
many different sites. Is there a way to do this without losing the site
themselves, as I am sure that most are NOT back's up. I do not intend to
take the responsibility of backing up data.
I simply want to change (as an example)
207.212.196.172 > TACHICORP.COM to whatever the new IP numbers I am assigned
are such as 111.111.111.1 > TACHICORP.COM
Can I do this by simply creating a new DNS file via
the Gui, and deleating the old? Or should I deleate the DNS record for a
particular account via the GUI and then create a new one? Will I lose the
info such as names passwords and such for the customer if I do
this?
Whew!
Second Question:
I have a new account to host.
their qualified domain is:
TACHI.RENO.NV.US
My GUI does not seem to have sufficient blanks to
fill in that info to host and do the DNS. Why? How do I fill in the
GUI? Remember I am using a RaQ 1.
I have limited / no0n existant UNIX/LINUX/Fargo
skills, so using the GUI is important to me.
I hope you can answer both questions,
Thanks
Bill Feldman
