I've done things very similar. If you pop in the second drive you can
cron either a "dd" or a "find / | cpio -pdumv /mnt/otherdrive". If you
have console access to the machine it is a simple matter to add another
boot partition to lilo thus allowing you to boot to the last known
good image. I'm not sure how to get around the problem of choosing which
hard drive to boot from without console access. Also, I'm not sure about
adding the command to the cobalt interface.
Note that if you use dd, sync the drive a few times before doing the dd.
Also, you may want to schedule the sync/dd to runs at a time when you
think the box will have light load of users.
