There is a raq550 HD bug that causes the server to
spontaneouly reboot on a file error. Unfortunately,
finding out which file so you can at least quarantine
it is the biggest pain in the behind. You can mv it,
but anything else reboots. If you can connect with the
serial cable you'll see this error

"Serverworks OSB4 in impossible state.
Disable UDMA or if your are using Seagate then try
switching disk types on thins controller. Please
report this event to osb4-bug@xxxxxxxxxxxx
SB4: continuing might cause disk corruption"

we have the same problem, the affected file was
someone's mailbox, and as you can imagine the thing
was rebooting every 5 ***** minutes.

I've not been able to confirm much from sun, but I
suspect that last kernel may have put the drive modes
to UDMA rather then ATA 4.

Unfortunately, I've no clue as how how to actually fix
it and don't have the luxury of mucking about with a
live box.
