Dave-
I know you can turn on scanning against DNS blocklists in MailScanner and it
does work. If you actually use the block in your sendmail.cf file, then the
message will never be accepted for delivery and an error will be passed to
the server attempting delivery. If you use MailScanner to block spam,
sendmail will still accept the message, pass it to MailScanner, and then
MailScanner will reply to the message with a message noting it was blocked
from delivery and discard the message. I'm pretty certain your mail server
still accepts the message for delivery, then tests it against blocklists.
Does someone else who has used MailScanner to check for mail from RBL
servers know for sure on this?
