[cobalt-users] pop before smtp works, imap before smtp doesn't

I have a Cobalt RaQ 4i, with ~300 users using pop-before-smtp, and that
works well. Recently, I have had my first user who needs to use imap.
Imap works fine for retrieving email messages. Unfortunately, the ip
address of the sender never makes it into /etc/mail/popip.db , so the
imap user can never send mail out.
When the user imap's his mail, it makes an entry into
/var/log/maillog, similar to the pop3 daemon.
From looking at the documentation, it look like imap-before-smtp should
work, but I'm not certain why poprelayd is not adding imap users to the
popip.db file.
Is there something that needs to be done to enable this feature?
thanks,
Jerry K
