[cobalt-users] [RaQ3] mailalias "mail" gives conflict

hi
We have a user that wants an email address like "mail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx".
that shouldn't give any problems because his username is another word
than "mail" and he just creates it as an alias for his main mail
address. 
But for some reason the admin sys keeps saying :

Invalid or conflicting email aliases: mail.

I checked the aliases in the database

su - postgres 
psql cobalt 
select "aliases" from "users";

none of them contained the word "mail"

I have checked /etc/aliases and none of the listed addresses
had mail in it. 

what can be wrong?
