Re: [cobalt-users] Cobalt Wish List

Add to your list for the RaQ550
the ability to write your own modules to add features such as turn on/off "user owned services" such as IRCd (without having to give the user to ssh/telnet access).

Alright,
So.. now that Sun has dumped the Cobalt appliances and opened the
code base, we all have the ability to make updates/changes as we see fit,
fork the code and generally "quit bitchin, start fixin" the things that we
see as wrong with the Cobalt code. So, I'm going to list a couple of my
"wishes" for the Cobalt platform for discussion purposes:

Raq550
        - Ext3 instead of XFS
        - Installable on standard PC hardware
        - 2.4.24 kernel
        - LVS kernel support
        - True Virtual User support for Email
        - Modular architecture for application choices:
For example, I would love to be able to choose my own DNS
server instead of being forced to use "Bind". Why not
extend the platform to allow users to choose their own
MTA, Mailing List Manager, and Nameserver?

Just some thoughts! ;)
