Your data center should be willing to switch your system to another ehternet port, and tell you what the port is showing for the connection (HD/FD? 10/100?). Then they should reboot your system for you and if you can reach it after it's rebooted you should check your ethernet port using mii-tool to see if it's connected at the same. You might try using mii-tool to renegotiate settings between their switch port and your eithernet interface. (Warning: getting your data center involved could cust anything from nothing to a lot, depending on your contract with them.) One missing piece from your equation is your IP#.
