Well Bruce as you know I disagree with you on this issue...
Myself, I don't think users of a user-group should have to go pay for
something. Thats just Wrong and anti-communitity IMO!
I have no idea why you would think this...
It's like saying... I think they can replace the redhat development team...
perhaps you could just explain "WHY" you think that they would be good
people to "re-write" and repair the work of the well over 250 people who's
work went into the development of what we use? btw... Have you seen their
work? I have over and over and it's not the level needed for this... no
offense guys, but this is old stuff that dosen't get any support anymore and
I know it, I've been online with redhat since 4.x and I still maintain some
very old old systems I almost wish I never built. That's partly why I still
build mips things...
This is also related to why I built a redhat 9 "like" version of everything
on our systems and more... The time of maintaining redhat 6.2 based software
is gone and done and somewhat useless... our core services are still ok and
our compiler is fine and we are good to go as far as I can see for the next
2-3 years and maybe more... the question is if "we" as a user group want to
try to maintain the old 5.x - 6.2 based base's we have now or go for more
current yet stable versions and when to do this?
