You have never used your swap! This is what I was afraid of seeing. I
am not sure I'm reading this right but you are using very little
memory. While it says your using 857220 you really are only using
187816 bytes at the time of the display.As the man page says "free
subtracts/adds buffer memory from/to the used/free memory reports
(respectively!)." The 857220 is like a highwater mark, showing how
much memory you have used. (There are processes that will reclaim it
has needed and then remove - but only when something else needs the
memory.) You have never used swap since you booted.(It is possible
that you used it and some process reclaimed it, but I believe it has
never been activated.) So I still have no idea if anyone has
successfully paged memory in/out from their swap space running the 550
OS with the 2.4.19C10 kernel on an XTR.
