I have one separate server with a 200GB IDE drive running SUSE 8.2, The
three Qube's use the built in backup facility from the GUI to backup weekly
using ftp. Apart from the default GUI backup, a cronjob makes several
directory's into tarrballs in the admin's home directory every saterday. The
SUSE server uses wget to get these tarballs weekly (on sunday). I also have
3 550's, using basicaly the same system. No GUI backup in the 550, so here
the machine's prepare's tarrballs and sitefiles using CMU, which are pulled
to the backup server using wget.
Finaly, the suse server has a high capacity dlt drive, on which tape
backup's are created in a 5 set cycle.
In the end, it requires low maintanance, and you have a recent backup handy
onm the machine without having to restore tapes on every occasion
The only thing badly backed-up is www.depopo.net itsself, but some time i
will even get around to fixing that :)
Bob.
