[cobalt-users] Re: Raq3 to Raq4 issues

I've been trying to upgrade a Raq3 to a Raq4 for about 2 weeks now
with no luck. I restored the Raq4 software on the Raq3.

Does the server work as expected at this point (after just a vanilla OS
Restore)? You are putting the RaQ 4i OS on it? Or did you add a 2nd hard drive and are doing RaQ 4r RAID restore?

I shut down all the services

How? Why?

and install SSH

From a PKG like solarspeed.net? Or from source? From an RPM?

When I start upgrading the box with the Raq4 update packages from the
sun cobalt site is where I get into trouble. I don't exactly know
which package does this, but the box gets corrupted. All services
shut down, and you can't install anything else on it. I believe it's
the OS 2.0 update. Has anyone had similar issues? If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks.

I have not seen anything like this - installing all PKGs in order, from bottom to top of the PKG page, should "just work"

Do you have any other errors, etc? If you're installing PKGs one at a time, you should be able to tell exactly where it blows up... any log file entries or weird error messages that could assist? What's the CMOS/ROM version on the box (SSH in as root and do "cmos -c romrev")?
