Excellent, thanks Dan. My project seems to have opened a can of worms, as
the image I am using this to track is an image embedded in an email - so
unless they are using web based email i'm not sure that method would work.
What a pain.
I am trying to make a very simple email delivery system. So far I have done
this just for myself by embedding a path to an image (like this
http://www.2trackit.com/2ti11.gif?111-test-sent-to-address@xxxxxxxxxxx ).
When the recipient opens the email, the image access is logged, and an email
can be sent out at the end of the day with a list of all opened emails.
I have been using this system for a few months now, and it has dramatically
reduced my "didn't get my order" emails and credit card chargebacks.
So now I have come to realize I need to recognize and exclude not only a
browser (my original question), but virtually any email client.
I suppose I could go via the browser method and tell people they need to get
a hotmail or yahoo email account. But that sounds a bit wishy washy.
