[cobalt-users] Boot from ROM RAQ550

Hi Guys

I have a 550 raq and yesterday (Saturday evening) I installed the C9 Kernel
update.
After that the raq didn't boot anymore. Big drama! We have some
webshops on there that make a lot of money in the weekend.
I called the guys from the datacenter, they tried to reboot the raq but
without succes.
Somebody suggested to boot from ROM and this worked. The raq is up and
running again.

But I get an email from Cron deamon every hour that says :

Cron <root@www> run-parts /etc/cron.hourly
iptables v1.2.1a: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who?
(do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be
upgraded. iptables v1.2.1a: can't initialize iptables table `filter':
iptables who? (do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs
to be upgraded.................

I don't know anything about this apache/linux/cobalt stuff.
I also think that buying the RAQ in the first place was a big mistake for
us. Last summer we had
the Kernel C7 reboot problem, now this. We are seriously considering to move
our webshops to another host
so that we don't have to worry about patches, updates, security and so on.

My questions :

What exactly does this "boot from ROM" do?
Can I keep it running like this?
Can I install the rest of the patches?
What about that iptable thing?

Thanks

Lode
