I have a Raq4i and the system crawls to snails pace a each night.
Mail spools up and is not delivered to individual users unless I
reboot. Mail used to be delivered almost immediately and performance
was quite cipper. Now I have noted the cpu be loaded from time to
time and the RAM (512MB) at times is almost all used. I am hosting
around 80 sites. with no significant additions over the summer.
I installed MailScanner in late August as the rash of viruses hit the
net. (When is a rash not hitting the net)?
About 3 weeks later I installed spamassassin.
Since then I have had intermittent email issues escalating in the
current situation I thought the problem was alleviated when I told
MailScanner to stop using spamassissin. But things just started up
again. last week end. I have tried to find information on
uninstalling MailScanner but have found none. Wish I had used an RPM
or a pkg.
I have run the latest version of chkrootkit and nothing was found.
I tried to use lsof and found it was no installed and wondered why so
I installed an RPM and found little to complain about.
Have considered reinstalling the OS but with the 80 sites I want to
avoid that at .......
Any thoughts or help appreciated.
