There are servers, and servers - a web server, or a fileserver in a department gets constantly hammered - many hundreds of thousands of read/write operations in a day - this can and will result in a lot of movement in the heads - constant movement of the heads will mean much higher wear than a "deskltop" of "backup" type usage of a drive.
A raid backup device will get large chunks of data thrown onto it, and then nothing for many hours - possibly as much as a day. That's the usage I intend for this qube - backup each of 4 raqs - I'm using this as a test-bed to see is I can use 1 qube per 4 raqs as a quick hit backup device. I'd probably have setup a real cheap PC using RH9, but seeing as I have this qube sitting here already - I just need to put the right OS on it, and to setup the RAID...

Greg
