I would add the Ip in your DNS side first so that it would propagate
world wide in the next 15 days or less. I have seen many clients
really hurt themselves by moving overnight and forgetting that DNS
world wide takes days even a week in some cases to propagate.
I would also see if they ( your old collocation company) can redirect
traffic. Some larger ISP's do have the ability to repoint inbound traffic
through
traffic shapers or redirectors and this would repoint them physically to
your new IP on your new colo.
You can run multiple IP's as the same address in in DNS for multiple
services
like mail, web and ftp sites.
