Ok,
I cannot access the unit after reseting the password, since it will not
reset. Could this have been removed from the config?

IIRC stick an unfolded paper-clip in the lttle hole below the power
switch, press untill the display indicates resetting password. the
password should be admin after this process.
You really should restore!
