Been a while since my last post, but I think my latest problem may
have to be solved by some greater being than I...
Anyway, here goes:
After deleting a few redundant sites this morning I ran into the
problem of the siteadmin GUI not appearing for the vsites, as well as
emails bouncing. Ran the well known fixsite.pl and brought back the
vsites gui, and followed Sun's symbolic link instructions. Of course,
this doesn't fix the email problem so have tried a few things such as
adding new user accounts to see whether would work,; e-entering email
alias settings and saving the changes; restarting sendmail; rebooting
the server (a RaQ4r). Not totally sure what everyone means by email
aliases - I understand it to mean the box where you might add the
@www.mydomain.com for the catchall email, or to map other email
addresses to go to am user. Do you have to actually delete them and
then recreate them? Haven't got all the passwords either...
I don't fully understand or feel confident on some of the other fixes,
which seem to entail redoing the various system files with tables of
domains and email aliases. So, if anyone is willing to assist (email
me off list asap) I'm prepared to pay a mutually agreeable amount to
get what needs to be done. I am still open to suggestions as to how to
resolve this issue myself, but I've already spent a lot of time and I
still haven't fixed things properly!
Thanks for your time.
David
Just to update you...
Had a very helpful email that offered a solution that even a dodo like
me could understand. For some reason I had a mental block about where
the email server alias was - it is of course in the GUI under site
settings. I was confusing it with an email address alias for some
stupid reason. Once I was directed to the right location of the GUI I
could obviously see the missing field and filled it in - for all 150 of
the sites (I know there are quicker ways, but this was all I could
manage right now). All seems to be ok :-)
Thanks
David
