Verisign has no sense whatsoever. They only stopped the "service" because
they weren't certain they could prevail in a contract dispute. You can bet if
they can find a way to drive through their contract with ICANN, it'll be back
with as little warning as it showed up the first time. (And probably with
more advertisements.)
I would only suggest that no one in their right mind would use
Verisign/Network Solutions as their primary registrar. With .com/.net domains
in the $8.75 US range, paying those morons $30.00 or more makes no sense
whatsoever. (It hurts enough they get $4/year for "managing" the root
servers.) Transfer now, transfer often.
