[cobalt-users] BIND 8.2.7

So I guess I really didn't need to the upgrade because months ago I upgraded
to BIND 8.3.4 using Gerald's detailed instructions. So for me it was a
downgrade... Oh well I can always upgrade to 8.3.4 again. Sun Cobalt, I
don't know what is wrong with them...

Santiago.

Replying...

That IS crazy!

8.2.7 was released at the same time as 8.3.4, both fix the security holes
that popped up in November 2002. Moving from 8.3.4 -> 8.2.7 is a bizzare
sidegrade, not really a downgrade, (unless you're using an 8.3 specific
feature). Both versions (as well as 9.2.2) are considered current, though
9.2.2 is the recommended version to use. I wouldn't worry about this
"upgrade", it shouldn't make life much different. I do have to wonder why
the folks at SunCobalt decided to make this decision, though... probably
happened at 3AM as the MtDew and RedBull started to wear off.
