On some rev levels of the payload on RaQ 4 from the factory, there existed a
"race condition" during bootup that would break PostgreSQL. The patch you
mention addresses that.

Nope, if you can get the RaQ powered up and it operates correctly, no need for
the fix. If you've added all the Sun patches, etc., you're also "fixed"...
it was a strictly "out of the box" issue I believe. I don't think the patch
was "public" - I think it was installed at the factory as part of the payload
building process.
FWIW, if you just got the box, I'd recommend totally rebuilding it anyway...
you never know what's on there. I always have more peace of mind when I know
100% what has been installed on a server...
