Hi guys,
I have a number of email accounts on an old raq3, with the required A
records and MX
records pointing to this server, and all has been fine.
I now want to move the email accounts to a newer faster server, but still
keep the older
server as a backup mail server incase of the primary going offline.
So, am I right in thinking that I just have to create a new A Record and MX
record for the
newer server, set it to Highest and set my original to Lowest priority and
this should do
the trick.
And, if the primary did go offline, the backup would collect the mails, but
would it then
automatically send on the emails once the primary came back online, or do I
need to do
something else in the backup MX server that will ensure that emails are sent
onto the
primary mail server once it comes back online?
Help much appreciated....
Thanks
Mac
