Gentlepersons:
I have a problem with a couple of domains that I can't quite figure out and I
need your help.
In light of the recent MSBlaster and associated spam storm, several of my
customer's ISPs are not allowing any mail to be relayed that they (and
understandably) can't do a reverse lookup on.
When a client of mine sends mail to another user from his ISP
(tom@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sends to bob@xxxxxxxxx) it is immediately bounced
back saying that it can't authenticate the "hisdomaingoeshere.com" domain
name.
When I use www.dnsreport.com on hisdomaingoeshere.com, I get this message:
WARNING: One or more of your mailservers claims to be a host other than what
it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space
or a dash, then the host name). This probably won't cause any harm, but is a
technical violation of RFC821 4.3.
mail.hisdomaingoeshere.com claims to be host www.highness.com.
What do I need to do to get his domain to be authenticated on my Cobalt?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this...
