Hi!
A long time ago we had a discussion on adding Arco's duplidisk to a Cobalt RaQ.
It was not a really easy thing to do because you still needed a complete
windows to Linux pc to setup the 2 mirrors.
I got this from Arco today:
1. Announcing a New Feature - EzMIRROR
Arco has received many requests for an easier way of initializing and
mirroring hard drives without the use of a utility. We have worked long and
hard on this addition to an already easy product. Our newest feature,
EzMIRROR allows users to take advantage of copying the primary to the
mirror drive through the use of the existing single (buzzer) button on the
DupliDisk3 adapter/controller. This feature provides truly operating system
independent hardware RAID capability without the need for a keyboard or
display. The EzMIRROR feature is an easy and effective means of controlling
the entire RAID operation, without the need of an Operating System specific
utility program. The RAID operation can be accomplished via the front/rear
panel switch button interface.
EzMirror is a now on Firmware 3.13 and up, you can upgrade the DupliDisk3
Firmware by downloading from
http://duplidisk.com/support/downloads/instruct/dd3_313.html . While the
software utilities are still included with all of our DupliDisk products we
now have an additional way of copying drives for those computers that are a
non x86 type of processor system (i.e. RISC processors) or in headless
applications. This feature has been designed to allow you to use your
existing DupliDisk controller without interruption to your existing
system/computer.
Features and Benefits
Allows you to copy drives without a utility
Useable with a non x86 type of architecture
Great for headless applications
Easy One button operation
No extra costs are involved
---------
Sounds like it's finally ready for cobalt use.
