Wow, I got a lot of help on this one. I really really appreciate it and
hope I can somehow repay the help.. or at least the karma, some way.
Problem was a !DOH! . I have recently installed a 3550 cisco switch with
routing. I enabled rip on it and set up routing for a subnet that comes
in from an outlying department. I set up one port as a gateway for that
and all the other departments I'm bringing in via wireless. As it was
set, everything was working fine for a couple weeks. So I'm not sure
what changed to block me out, but maybe as I was moving patch cables
around on the other switches we have. Funny thing was though that the
first time I was blocked, I was able to re-establish via the reboot of
my computer. And then it worked fine for a day.. before blocking me
again after I had changed my ip address a few times.
Anyway, solution was to add a static route on the switch to point to the
public subnet.
Sorry for taking your time, but grateful.
Cheers, Jim
