Ok some questions:
1. Can you ping the Win2000 PC from:
a. The Local RaQ.
b. The Gateway RaQ.
c. Other work Startions.
2. Is the Win2000 PC on the same switching unit of:
a. The Local RaQ.
b. The Gateway RaQ.
c. Other work Startions.
4. Have you checked the cross-over cables between
the switches.
5. If you have a spare switch try changing the point
of the Win2000 PC.
I am still thinking that the problem is from the Win2000 PC.
or its network setup, network physical connection, or Switches.

Thanks Gerald,
It is local, I can ssh into it via another raq, or if I go to another
computer I can directly access it via ssh or the web gui. I've poked
around a bit and didn't find any suspicious log entries, though I may
not have looked at the right ones. I'm obviously fairly new to this. I
suspect it is going to be something ending with a 'Doh!.
