Right, when I go to the "home site" or "main site" ssl settings, I have a
self-signed cert in there. The page says says,
"The home site SSL certificate is also used for this administrative web
server."
Which is true, it is using this certificate for the admin webserver.
However, port 443 is still not open on the IP of the home site. Any ideas?

Do the following:
Click "Site Management" then click on the wrench on the site you want
to enable SSL for.
Click on "Site Settings"
Click the check box for "Enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
Click on "Save Changes"
Click on "SSL Settings"
Fill in all that information, if you need to
Scroll to the bottom, and select "Generate self-signed certificate"
Click on "Save Changes"
It will generate a new cert for you, and then you should get this screen:
SSL Settings Reconfigured
Please click here to utilize the new SSL settings.
You do NOT need to click here, as it will take you the admin portion of the
site ... but using that domain do this:
https://host.domain.tld
You should get a popup ... that is ALL you need to do ...
(just incase you do not know ... https:// tells it to use port 443
automatically)
Thanks,
Brian
