Hi Guys,
Today I had a VERY unfortunate incident with a Qube3 with a reportedly dead
disk. The Qube3 reported that disk B was "down" ... no big deal ... just
replace it. I dropped a replacement disk in slot B but apparently it had
not been erased ... it had previously been used in a Qube3 and this Qube3
decided it "liked" disk B over disk A and set about rebuilding the RAID and
trashed the good disk. I was watching the LCD during the boot process and
realised something was definitely wrong when the name on the LCD was nothing
like what I it was.
My first question concerns how the Qube3 decides which disk shall be the
"master" and which will be overwritten? I assumed that since it reported
disk B as being down, it would take disk A as the "master".
My second question is whether disk A can be recovered? I did not give the
machine enough time to actually mirror the partitions. The Qube3 will now
not boot from disk A so it has done something "bad" to it.
In the meantime I have restored the system (to a fresh disk) from backups so
its not a complete disaster ...
Cheers, Malcolm
