I don't think being intel based is enough, the rpm's for the Qube3 are
compiled for 585 and better, but dont run on the 550 (intel, or an upgraded
raq3 with 550 OS). I guess the compile process does a lot of runtime linking
with libaries and so on on the system. I am

The essential question is; how different are the 3 and 4 to the 550 in terms
of OS version, kernal perhaps, and libraries on the system. I am not enough
unix-guru to realy be able to comment on that.

I have completed work on new rpm's for the intel 550, and the upgraded RAQ3
550 systems, but are not yet done with testing and setting up the upgrade
procedure.

The i586 rpm's for the 550 are worth a try on a XTR, but personaly, i would
say we have to re-compile on a real XTR, 3 and 4 to get good results, the
mysql site warns specificaly for using your own compiled binaries
cross-platfom, since they (seem) to cause stability issues. Changes are high
that you would have to put the original mysql back (like i had to building
the i586's), or restore from a OS restore cd if things go wrong.

I am willing to build versions and howto's for the Cobalts i don't own, but
someone would have to offer access to a development system (or do it
him/herself) to get the job done well. It takes around 1 to 2 days of toying
around on the system. As of yet, i have not trashed up my systems making the
rpm's, but i would not very much like working on someone elses production
systems.
