At 10:40 AM -0400 7/28/03, astorm is rumored to have typed:

But read that manpage CAREFULLY, particularly:
> whereis has a hard-coded path, so may not always find what
> you're looking for.
locate, on the other hand, is only limited by the last time the database
was updated.
