Hello,
Just today I started getting these errors in my maillog:
Jul 25 19:15:03 raq1 sendmail[1020]: error: safesasl(/etc/sasldb) failed:
Group readable file
I searched the archives and learned a fix is to chmod the /etc/sasldb file
to 600, which I've done. However, I'm hoping someone can provide some
clarification as to just what this sasldb file is for. I haven't installed
any patches on my system of late and as these errors were seemingly not
appearing before, I'm wondering what toggled them.
I also ran /usr/sbin/sasldblistusers and found:
user: [USER] realm: raq1.mydomain.com mech: PLAIN
user: [USER] realm: raq1.mydomain.com mech: CRAM-MD5
(Where [USER] is a username on the system)
I suspect this user's doing something to toggle the errors (or make use of
sasldb which wasn't seemingly being used before, otherwise I would have seen
the errors).
Any clarification on the purpose and operation of sasldb would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
