- Problem with Virtual Host File not rewritten (Missing ServerAlias
line)
Request Patch/fix.
Our Raq550's have all of the patches and fixes from the BlueLinQ area as
of this writing.
WHAT WE DID:
We recently moved our Raq550s to another Network Operations Center.
We changed all the IPs in the GUI under the SITE MANAGEMENT tab for each
virtual site in GENERAL SETTINGS.
Then we changed each DNS IP for each domain name in the GUI under
the SERVER MANAGEMENT tab, under NETWORK SERVICES, DNS, EDIT PRIMARY
SERVICES, for each domain name. We changed the forword record IP
without the www and then changed the one with the www. After the
internet propagated the IP changes (about 24 hours), the aliases pointed
to the first website (site1).
THE PROBLEM:
It appears that the virtual host files were not written correctly in
the /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts directory. Each of the site files was
missing the ServerAlias line. Therefore, only the www.DomainName.tld
was pointing to the correct location. Use the name Without the www. and
it pointed to the first site on the server. The Server Alias line also
does not get added when a new site is created from the first ADD
screen. I have to go and edit the alias section in the GUI before it
rewrites it.
THE WORK A ROUND:
I got the aliases to work by editing each of the web alias settings
for each domain. Under the SITE MANAGEMENT tab, edit a virtual domain,
SERVICES, WEB, and edit the WEB SERVER ALIASES. I had to change at
least one letter and save it and then change it back and save it for it
to rewrite the file with the ServerAlias line in the vhost file.
SUGGESTED CORRECTIVE ACTION:
I suggest that the /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/site### file get rewritten
when any of the settings get changed for that virtual domain. For
Example, when we change the IP, then it also adds the ServerAlias line.
OTHER:
I do not know if this a result from a recent patch or fix. But the
problem does exist now and it did not before I updated the Raq550 with
all the patches from BlueLinQ.
