[cobalt-users] MySQL Password

Hi folks

I've just installed MySQL from pkgmaster and am having a problem changing
the password from the default, amongst other things.

I log in as admin, do a su -, type in my password again and then enter the
following:

mysqladmin -uroot -pcobalt-mysql password whatever

It just comes back with the options for mysqladmin as if I've typed
something wrong. I also get this if I just try mysqladmin -uroot
-pcobalt-mysql

I've looked through the archives and can't find anything wrong with what I'm
typing.

Any ideas?

Also, I've just installed phpMyAdmin and when Ido:

GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, DROP, ALTER on
bluewidgets.* TO clientusername@localhost IDENTIFIED by
"clientusernamepassword";

I get an error unless I put clientusername@localhost in "" as well. It then
goes through without an error but the user doesn't seem to be created.

I've used this command many times on my old server running phpMyAdmin-2.2.0
but I've used phpMyAdmin-2.5.2 on this server.

Lastly, as far as MySQL is concerned, is 'group' some sort of internal
label? I had a database on the old server using group in a table. I did a
dump and copied it onto the new server and it didn't like it a bit.

Again, any ideas gratefully received.
