We make sure to back up like this, if you untar this whole bunch from / 
after your raq has been updated with all patches and the fresh OS, 
basically you'll have your raq fully restored.., just a few small ends to 
tie up (perhaps a myisamchk on the MySQL tables in case some didn't close, 
and run the quota_restore command to reinstate the quota's):
