This is the method I used successfully in rolling back the kernel on a true
550, which I got from Richard Sidlin here. Note, after the kernel rollback
on my box, everything sync'd up fine the first time around and it's been
solid since...avoiding the C6 & C7 updates.

cd /tmp
wget

wget

rpm --install --force kernel-2.4.16C12_V-1.i386.rpm
rpm --install --force kernel-headers-2.4.16C12_V-1.i386.rpm
rpm --install --force bwmgmt-1.0.0_2.4.16C12_V-1.i386.rpm
/sbin/reboot
After it rebooted, it started the sync again and told me that the 2nd
drive was dead. I rebooted again via the GUI and it started syncing from
about 80% and has been fine ever since. It has also taken all of the
updates since then.

Do you have any urls/references for rolling the kernel back from C7? I'm
having sync problems as well now that I've applied C7.

Hi folks,
I've already given a step-by-step solution to this problem to this list
twice. :P It's all detailed here:
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2003-June/093176.html
We've had no further problems since performing that fix.
Thanks,
