Did you consider just checking out a forum like www.webhostingtalk.com?
Also, irc.freenode.net has many, many free software gurus on it. They
tend to frequent #debian and #gentoo, though #redhat may also be a good
source of information.
I realize this isn't a local group per se, but the online groups tend to
have better information... and it's usually available immediately.

knowing the my RAQ2's are Long past EOL.
I'm looking into joining a linux group whose main
subject is web hosting / server mgmt.
Any good pointers from the crowd?
(I'm putting together a KA** box and probably going to
run RedHat and a Webmin interface.)
