I've recently received a number of emails from our Raq550 informing me that thebox is runnning dangerously hot and I should check the fans. What's puzzlingme is the fact that all of the emails have been sent at 1.00 in the morning andby 1.15 I have received a second email informing me everythings ok again. Anyone have any ideas why I'm getting this strange time-dependent overheating pattern (and yes, the fans are working fine)?
Hi Steve. Our RaQ550, in a temperature-controlled NOC, does this quite often, too. Some days are worse than others. It even was doing it when we only had a test site and nothing else on the machine and nobody was using the test site. I think it might have a flakey temperature sensor or something.
Another odd thing is that I run a special version of MRTG software modified to report various things about Cobalt RaQs, including the temperature. On my RaQ4, this also worked flawlessly. On the RaQ550, the number reported back from the MRTG is always lower than what's reported in the /proc directory. The strange thing about that is that the MRTG script is getting this information from the same place. <perplexed>
Anyways, if you figure it out, I'd like to know, because I find it somewhat worrying as well although I've been ignoring the message since all seems well.
