Lousy coincidene, Gerald? Of course nothing involved in changing fans
should cause a drive (or in this case two drives) to fail.
Did the machine run a long time with no cooling? Of course that could
cause drive problems.
Have you tried swapping the two drives? I would, as a last-ditch effort
before a restore.
