Hello,
I've looked through the archives and have a good idea of what I am in
for, but wanted to see if I could build a little consensus on what to
watch out for and what steps should be taken to minimize risk in upgrading
the ROM on the Raq4r.
A little background - I'm having trouble getting the Raq4r to recognize my
replacement disk - it'll just won['t accept the new disk and add it to the
RAID. A long story short - I pulled one of my disks when I thought I
might have an integrity issue, issue resolved, I wanted to replace the
removed drive and keep the original as backup. I bought replacement drives
from Gerald Waugh, and popped one in and on boot the Raq sees the drives
as incompatible.
So, I wiped my original drive (the one I pulled) and it accepted it with no
issue and sync'ed away.
Well, now one of the drives failed, and I NEED to replace it. Gerald
suggested that I upgrade the ROM.
I have 2.3.35 and he suggested that it might be a little picky when it
comes to the RAID workings. He suggested I upgrade to V2.3.30.
So, here's my question:
Are there any tips and tricks and things I should investigate before I
attempt to do this? I'd like to learn as much from others before I run
off and render my machine useless.
All that said I, of course, absolve any of you of any responsibility -
just looking for tips :).
Thanks!
