I missed that " -" after the "su":
[admin admin]$ su-
bash: su-: command not found
[admin admin]$ su -
Password: 
[root /root]# cmos -c romrev
2.9.36

Using "su -" instead of "su"
Gives you the root path (path to system files)
Then you don't have to have the complete path to
execute system executables
