Out of curiosity, has anyone tried or looked at Webmin as a linux GUI? 
It's not as customer friendly out of the box as the Cobalts (although it
could be made to be more customer-friendly).  It's free, as in beer, and
works pretty well (IMO) for daily administration of linux boxen.
