Here's a few clues.
OK, do you have an entry listing which ports are safe ports, something
like "acl Safe_ports"?
Are you rewriting any of the addresses?
You might want to read the basic squid faq and try their web-site,
mailing list if you remain stuck.
What is in the squid logs? Do you have rules restricting which ports
your machine or squid can access?
