That's the reason to

	makemap hash virtusertable.db < virtusertable

virtusertable.db is the binary-format copy of the table.
virtusertable is the text input.

Erroneously running

	makemap hash virtusertable < virtusertable   # DANGER!

will scramble virtusertable.

If virtusertable is a valid DBM hash file, one can extract the
data.  However, I'd try

	strings virtusertable > tmp.vu

and work with the temporary file.  It won't return your input
file, but should give you workable data.
