There is a line limit in the email RFCs,  from memory it is 998 
characters plus a carriage return line feed.

Try sending the mail to local mailbox to determine if it is being 
broken up enroute or on the server.


Why not just modify the cgi to split up long lines - shouldn't be too 
hard.
