[cobalt-users] smtp appears to be down



I received the message below a couple of days ago, how do I go about fixing
this kind of problem.  I don't see how to turn the mailserver off in the
control
panel.  I did reboot the server RAQ3  but it did not correct the problem, so
I
paid Cobalt to fix it.  Does anyone know what the fix is incase this should
happen again in the future.

" The SMTP (mail) server appears to be down.  The mail server may shutitself
down temporarily under extreme load, so you should also check the CPU load
on the server.  If the load does not appear to be the problem, try turning
mail service off and then on within the Cobalt server Control Panel to see
if this corrects the problem.  If not, try rebooting the server itself.  If
this still does not correct the problem, contact Cobalt Technical Support."
